Wait, what? I'm posting?

Yes, I am. I came to such a great epiphany that I needed to post!

I can't wear pink nail polish to save my life. I tried! God knows I've tried. I wore this manicure for 3 days, hence the tip wear, but I just hated it on me.

The pink is a nice pink. I like it on its own as a colour, but on my nails the almost neon pink just revolted me. It made my hands look orange, and I just couldn't deal with it, so I finally cracked and took it off about 5 minutes ago.

The polish itself is a dream. I like how the brush is quite a bit smaller than usual polishes (I have ridiculously short nail beds) and the formula is smooth and creamy. No cuticle drag, nothing, it's lovely to work with (which is why I'm glad I have 4 other shades), but this colour I think will have to go to my 10 year old sister.

This whole review sounds so negative, but I need to stress. I just don't like this colour. The polish is great in all other aspects. I just can't wear this colour.

I paid for this, I believe it was 65 pence from Cosmetic Kingdom. I will always recommend buying from there because the service is great, postage is always fast, and it's free if you spend over £10!

Bootie Babe

Bootie Babe Nail Polishes!

These are ridiculously fun polishes, the bottles, and the colours. They come in 12 colours, and as of 12th March, there are fragrances now!

Bootie Babe Cosmetics can be purchased here. They do international shipping, and for the sake of UK customers, I ordered three (and got one free) and with the shipping, I believe I paid $18, which was $4 for each polish and $6 for shipping.

Now here's where there's a slight discrepancy with their pricing. On the site now, it says that the polishes are $9, but when I add one to my cart, it says $4. Just bear that in mind.

The three I have (I gave one to my aunt as a gift) are Slinky Pinky, Brink of Pink and Hella Baloo

I'm going to start with Slinky Pinky, because this one was the one I had the most trouble with. First off, the brush was slightly defective, and instead of being round like the others, it was twisted slightly, which meant that that polish dragged when it was being applied, and made application slightly awkward. The formula is quite nice and thick, but combined with the brush, it was a nightmare. I solved this by using a different brush though and it applied beautifully.

All in all, Slinky Pink is a soft pale pink, with a slight silver pearl running through it. This is the only one I have that is pearly the other two are creme finishes. As I have said the formulation is comfortably thick, and when used with a normal brush, it applies wonderfully.

Brink of Pink is in your face neon pink. It's a gorgeous colour, and like most neons though, I find it needs a top coat to keep the glossiness up, and it needs two coats, although again it has a nice thick formula. The brush was much better here, and this colour would look absolutely gorgeous with a tan.

And by no means least, my favourite, Hella Baloo.

Hella Baloo is a bright primary blue, and off the bat, it reminds me of Barry M's Cyan. I love this colour, the formulation (it's a little thinner than the others) and it's pretty much opaque in one coat. This is two coats for added glossiness.

These are all fast drying polishes, with Hella Baloo being the quickest to dry. They last pretty well on my nails to, averaging around 3 days before chipping and significant tip wear. I must admit, I'm surprised they're so good, I was just buying them for the cute bottles, but for them to be so good, I'm extra pleased!

I like Miss Sporty nail polishes a lot, these and the eyeshadow pencils are the only things I actually like from their line. The colours are bright, fun and they last quite well. This colour is really fun; it's bright pink with a blue flash, it's fantastic.

This colour is the epitome of holiday colours without the need for glitter. It's a gorgeous pearly deep red, which reminds me a lot of the 17 polishes that came out for these holiday season.

2true vs MAC

Really quick post, because it's 5am, and I was browsing through my make up :P

So, I bought the Iced Delights Sultry Lip Bag from MAC, and the cremesheen glass Deelight looked suspiciously like one I already own. But this lipgloss that I already own was not from MAC, no, it was from 2true. 2true is in Superdrug and it's usually on one of those free standing little turning counter things. Think jewelry displays. Anyway. You can pick up three items for £5 usually, and this lipgloss, on its own, is £1.99. Worth a try right?


Here are MAC Cremesheen Glass (top) in Deelight, and 2true Colour Drench Lip Colour in Shade 1
They look pretty alike here, no? The colour is almost the same, but Shade 1 is a little darker.

They both apply really nicely to your lips, but if anything, I like the slightly more creamier, and more moisturising feel that the 2true has; the cremesheen glass is a lot thicker. These two colours are my ultimate My Lips But Better lipgloss, so I'm super happy with that, they wear for around 2 hours or so. They're both very pigmented, I would say that they have the same level of pigmentation. Shade 1 is a tad more on the coral/warmer side, but I think the flash accentuates that, because in person, I could hardly tell the difference between the two colours. The smell they both have is of the generic (but delicious) vanilla scent, which is almost delicate when applied on the lips, and disappears after a while.

Overall, I think that both products are really good, but I'm definitely going to repurchase the 2true gloss. At £1.99, I'm more than sold :D

Models Own -- Beetlejuice

I fixed my camera, and now I'm putting off writing my memory study report.

I thought I'd share some of the prettiest polishes I own with you today. I have half of the Beetlejuice collection from Models Own, which are colours with a duochrome running through them. The colours are supposedly based on the colours of a beetle's back, and I find them all gorgeous. I have Emerald Black, Pinky Brown and Golden Green. I still need to get Aqua Violet and Purple Blue. They come at £5 each, 3 for £10 at ASOS or all 5 with a top coat for £20.

It's really hard to capture the pearlescence and the duochrome to these gorgeous colours, so I'll sum them up verbally :)

Emerald Black: This colour initally looks black, but when you look closer, it's a beautiful dark shimmering green. It catches the light beautifully and glistens from teal to green
Golden Green: This colour is a very yellow green that in the light glimmers a dirty gold colour. This is my least favourite, and it's very sheer so you have to build it up quite a bit before it stops looking streaky
Pinky Brown: This is my favourite. In the bottle it looks an almost subdued fuchsia but when you get closer, you see reflects of gold and a little bit of green.

They all apply well, the polish is a little thinner than I'd like, but the polish is mainly microshimmer rather than flat polish, which helps give it that duochrome finish. The polishes last 3 days on me, with minimal tip wear (I don't wear my polishes for very long anyway), and I didn't use a top coat. The microshimmer particles are much more obvious in Pinky Brown, but as I said, I like it; it gives the polish a certain depth to it. The microshimmers remind me of the ORLY Cosmix polishes.

I think these are great polishes, and I can't wait to get the last two!

17 Magnetized Nail Polish

I broke down and bought into a new craze. Magnetized Nail Polish. Admittedly, I don't think it's as big at the moment as the crackle, but it has potential.


I have three of the 17 polishes, in Grey, Blue and Purple. There is another one, called Teal, but Boots are having 3 for 2 on 17, so I didn't get the fourth. These polishes retail for £5.99 in Boots stores and online.


As you can see, the large cap comes off to reveal a smaller one, which I find a lot easier to use. On the top of the cap is a magnet.


Magnetic effect.

Grey is a graphite colour. It reminds me of pencil lead from the school pencils. Applies the sheerest of all three. You definitely need to put two coats on. Has black lines when the magnet is used.
Purple this is a pearly purple. Very dupeable, in fact I think that 17 have a colour identical to this, and I know that ASDA have a nail polish this colour, incidentally called Purple. Has black lines when magnet is used.
Blue is my favourite colour, when applied by itself without a magnet. It's a nice medium blue, with a pink pearl. I tried to get a photo of the pearl, but it was extremely hard, so have this. Has darker blue lines when the magnet is applied.



How this works is that you apply one coat of the nail polish to your nail, let it dry, then paint on another coat, and while it's still wet, you turn the cap upside down so the magnet is facing your nail and hover the cap over your nail. There is a little lip so you can rest it on your actual finger just before the nail without the magnet hitting the nail. If you do hit the nail, then you'll be left with a blemish. I just paint straight over that again.
Leave the magnet in place for around 10 seconds, and you'll have your magnetic effect!


Grey, Purple, Blue


The effect in real life is almost 3D. Tilting your nails will make the lines appear to move. I have had far too much fun with this polish, they dry really fast, look great, and are a lot more cheaper than their counterparts (Nails Inc). I would definitely recommend these polishes; even if you don't like the magnetic effect, the colours are good solid colours and the formula is lovely to work with.
You do have to play around with the magnet to see what effect you like, and you're not stuck with just the effect in the photos above. You can rotate the magnet to get different effects.

Quick Post -- Barry M Spring Green

So... I was rummaging around in my partner's nail polish stash, and it came to my attention that she has all the colours that I want in mine. I picked up a green, and thought that it looked familiar, so I checked the name. "Spring Green." I was sure that I had one too, so I checked, and I do! But it's not the same colour.

As you can see, one is definitely more of a bright green whilst the other is more of a minty creamy green. I think one must be an old bottle, but nonetheless, I love this colour!

Facets of Fuchsia over Barry M Black, GOSH 546 over Barry M Grey

The Revlon nail polish needs to be applied over a black. On its own, after two coats, the base colour is still a sheer black. It also reminded me of another colour I have in my collection, which is GOSH's 546 Rainbow, which is a polish with flakies in, and I love the flakies. They're similiar, but the GOSH has a clear base, and the Revlon looks like it has glitter in it rather than flakies. £6.49 from drugstores


It's Not My Name

This is from the Lasting Colour line of Miss Sporty nail polishes. I like Miss Sporty, they're cheap and their nail polishes are good. I don't buy their make up because it doesn't appeal to me. This colour is a bright bubblegum pink with a blue flash. £1.99 from Superdrug or miss-sporty.com


Also! I was in Tesco because I needed to get a printer refill kit, and I saw this and had to buy it.

Maybelline -- Cool Watermelon and Peach Colada

bought these from Cosmetic Kingdom a couple of weeks ago, and so are the pictures.

Cool Watermelon is a very bright watermelon pink, in the tube it almost looks neon. But when applied, it's a very nice cool pink/red. The swatch is with about four strokes going over, so it's definitely a buildable colour. It is very smooth going on the lips but because of that, I feel that you lose some wear time. This might just be because once I have lip product on, I feel the need to rub my lips together to either make sure it's even, or make sure it's there. Also, this colour seems to stain, out of the two.

Peach Colada is my favourite out of the two. Initally it's a very sheer golden coral, and you can build it up to the opacity as depicted above; but it is sheer. I think it's supposed to be sheer. It's gorgeous with just one or two swipes; it makes your lips look fuller because of the shimmer in the lipstick.

These lipsticks upon swatching look juicy. That's really what this photo is lacking. The colour is pretty true to life but you can't see the juiciness that the colour has to it.

I find that unless you actively go out trying to identify a scent, these lipsticks aren't too bad. I had to get them out and sniff at them hardcore to find a smell! If I was asked, I'd say that there is a hint of a melon smell to them, but it's not bothersome at all.

I like these lipsticks, and for 99p(?) I don't think they're bad at all!

Rimmel Colour Rush Eye Quads

I found these on my computer, from a couple of months ago, so I thought I'd share. I don't have pictures of the actual products, but swatches are always good~


Smokey Brun. The lightest colour is a vanilla sheen kind of colour, perfect for when you're doing a simple look where you want the actual lid to look untouched, and all the work going on in the crease. The rest of the colours are all smooth and easy to work with. This was my favourite quad out of the bunch.


This is a better picture of the darkest brown. All of the other colours were showing true to life, apart from this one. Here you can see it's a darker golden brown with gold reflects.


State of Grace.
I was suprised at how easy this quad was to work with. Usually, blues are a b*tch to work with, but this was just fine. The only troubles came to the purpley-blue at the end which had a tendency to be a bit chalky and patchy.
All colours are true to life :)


Beauty Spells.
I'm not sure why I had such a hard time photographing this quad, but it annoyed the hell out of me. The colours look gorgeous in the pan, but this is a lilac quad, so I knew not to get my hopes up. I was right to. This quad is the one I was least impressed with. The light silver is ok, a little sheer, but ok. The lilac isn't really lilac with one swipe; it's glitter with a lilac sheen. The plummish colour is very powdery, I don't want to say chalky, but it's very... Clumpy, the black however, wins. It's a matte black with silver glitter, and it does the job just fine.

Sun Safari.
This quad is a nice warm collections of brown/sand/golden tones. The light colour is similar to the light colour in Smokey Brun. The two middle colours are very close in person, and almost dupes of each other, but when they're built up, one has a more distinct orange tone. The darkest colour is gorgeous. It's an almost metallic burnt golden-bronze. I love this colour so much.


All of the shadows are nice and smooth to work with, and they're not bad to play with. I was expecting the dud to be Beauty Spells, but that's because purples/lilacs are so hard to get right. That's ok! Rimmel can be forgiven ;)

All eyeshadows were bought by me, a few months ago, so I couldn't tell you the price, but could be bought from Rimmellondon.com, Superdrug and Boots stores. It's Rimmel though, so I'd think around £5-8.

MUA Eyeshadows

I bought 2 new MUA eyeshadows a week ago, and I thought I'd share pictures of swatches of all the shadows I currently own (I'm going into town tomorrow to pick up some more and a few nail polishes, AND pretty much all of the I Love... Chocolate and Oranges range).

Unfortunately, I depotted them all into a tin before taking photos; it never crossed my mind that I should photo before swatching that day! Nevermind! I have a photo that I took a few months ago when I bought my first round of the shadows, and the packaging is still exactly the same.


Plain black casing with a clear plastic lid. The shadows aren't hard to open, so your nails will be intact after opening. They're also sturdy as I was able to do a whole move across the country without them shattering.


Back of the packaging. Each pan holds 2g worth of product, so £1 for 2g, deal right?


These are the swatches done in my room, under tungsten lighting, and all of the shadows are of the pearl texture. I think that number 26 is the wrong number, so we'll call it 2? from here on.



Shade 3: A pearl finish, it looks like tin foil when swatched on your hand. It's very smooth, almost creamy, and has pretty good pay off
Shade 9: A duochrome. The base colour is very pink, as you can see in the photo, but it flashes between blue and pinky purple. Needs to be built up though to work well
Shade 14: A darkened forest green. Soft, and better colour pay off than shade 9. Is a pearl finish
Shade 11: Metallic golden brown. This colour is gorgeous, kind of reminds me of Urban Decay's Toasted; maybe not so much in photos, but in person, yes.
Shade 12: Possibly the most talked about MUA shadow. This is the dupe for MAC's Club. Reddish brown base with a green duochrome, which you can just about see here. I love this colour, it's the ultimate 2 colours in one. Smokey eyes are effortless with this colour... Just be careful you don't end up looking bruised with all the red and brown.
Shade 13: Dark Royal Purple. I want to love this colour so much, and in the photos it's easy to see, but look, the pay off is bad. This swatch was done on top of Too Faced Shadow Insurance, and it was still patchy. I tried it on top of coloured bases too, and it's still patchtastic; and not in the good way.
Shade 2?: Golden Rose colour. Starts off sheer, when I swatched it initially, I thought I had finally come across a bad MUA pearl shadow. Naw, not by a long shot. It swatches beautifully, smooth. It's a pretty rose-y colour, and it makes me think of the transition from summer to fall when you don't want to darken it up, and you still want to cling to the roses/corals of summer.


All of these shadows are in Superdrug stores around the country, retailing at £1 each.

Khaki Force and a Raindrop

On my way home from uni I popped into my local Superdrug and picked up these.


Two Miss Sporty Lasting Nail Colours, in Raindrop, and Khaki Force.

These are two excellent fall/autumn colours; they come in the standard Miss Sporty rounded glass bottle, and are small enough to throw in your bag and for you to lose it in there.

Raindrop is a blackened blue heavy teal colour, which I am in love with, ever since swatching. The drawback with this colour is that the formula of the polish is actually very watery, and it takes around 3 coats for the colour to be fully opaque. Think dupe of OCC's Echo

Khaki Force is a yellow heavy khaki colour (funnily enough :P), and after one coat the colour is pretty gross. Ever seen baby poop? Yeah, it's that colour after one coat, but after two and three coats, it's a much nicer darkish yellow green. The formula is a little less watery.

I don't know the wear of these just yet, as I only bought them two days ago, and I have just put a fresh coat of Raindrop on my nails, but as soon as I know, I'll update this post.

Here they're shown as they are after normal application. My favourite way to wear these though is with a matte top coat; I use Claire's matte top coat (£2.25), because I'm cheap like that. My camera subsequently died as I wrote that, so I can't post pictures right now of the polishes with the top coat; sorry!
